June 1, 2024 Anthony D Kelly

Opening Reception: Saturday 8th June at 5pm.

Runs: June 8th – September 6th 2024

The Linenhall Arts Centre, Linenhall Street, Castlebar, Ireland, F23 AN24

I am absolutely thrilled to announce the upcoming “Intentional Selection” Collage festival launching at the Linenhall Arts Centre next Saturday the 8th of June and running right until the end of Summer.

This festival will feature an exhibition of over 30 of the best collage artists practicing in Ireland today. A series of workshops catering to a wide variety of audiences, a screening of collage animation, a panel discussion and regular monthly meetings of the Connacht Collage Collective hosted at the Linenhall.

We invite you throughout this Summer to engage with the medium of collage and to join us as a welcome participant in all that this vibrant and exciting medium has to offer.
Full Programme Coming Soon.

From Anthony D Kelly:
“Collage has a rich history spanning from the advent of paper making in China in approximately 100AD; through being considered as a form relief sculpture during the renaissance period due to its layering and depth; being utilized as a foundational Cubist, Surrealist and Dadaist technique during the early twentieth century, featuring in the later Pop Art and Fluxus movements; to becoming the vibrant, versatile and engaging contemporary art practice that it is today.

To honour the versatility of this medium the Intentional Selection Festival has no unifying theme, but instead offers the audience an introduction to the range and possibility of collage as it is being practiced in Ireland today.“

K-FEST 2021

KILORGLIN, CO.KERRY, IRELAND

22nd - 25th October 2021

I am thrilled to announce that I will be taking part in this year’s K-FEST Arts Festival in wonderful Killorglin, Co. Kerry. The action will all be kicking off on October bank holiday weekend.

Their programme is jam packed with incredible Visual Arts, Crafts, Music, Drama, Workshops and Family Events. I can’t wait to get involved in this feast of culture and curiosity .

Check out a statement from the festival below:

“K-FEST is delighted to be back for 2021, albeit delayed to the October Bank Holiday from the usual June Bank Holiday weekend.

From October 22nd to 25th, you can expect a wide range of visual and performance art taking place in pop-up galleries dotted throughout the town.

With a focus on emerging artists, K-FEST has very much established itself as an important date on the national arts calendar, where the arts community and the local community become one community for a weekend.

You also expect the best in up-and-coming Irish bands and music acts, with genres from jazz to pop to rock to punk to electronic and DJs. K-FEST was nominated for a best small music festival in the IMRO awards just before lockdowns, so they can’t wait to get going again and curating more great Irish music.

As well as family events and workshops during the day, there is a drama-packed programme including plays, poetry, films, comedy shows and even a cabaret circus.”

Check out more from the festival at their official site here.

I am thrilled to announce that this October I will take part in Brittle/Fragile an Exhibition taking place as part of Westports Upcoming Westival.

Here is a statement from the Festival:

Through an open call, artists were invited to submit work on Westival 2019’s theme, ‘Brittle / Fragile’. The result is an exciting and varied group show showcasing selected work from Irish and international artists, featuring sculpture, painting, drawing and photography.

The theme proved a generous, many-headed muse, with artists responding in a huge variety of ways and presenting a multiplicity of creative interpretations – personal fragility, vulnerability as strength, frailty engendering feelings of protectiveness, the brittle geopolitical landscape, the fragility and ever-increasing vulnerability of our planet….

Thought-provoking and impressive in equal measure, this exhibition is a must-see.
